POSITION SUMMARY
The E&P Data Management Data Analyst primary responsibility is to analyze and document the data managed by E&P Data Management team to support Enterprise Asset Management providing governance and oversight of various types of digital data throughout all or part of the data lifecycle, from receipt to disposal. This position requires teamwork, communication and organizational skills in order to effectively execute data management activities across multiple domains and business units. This role also directly supports DG Data Administrators and business data users with help, issue resolution, and determining the root cause of data issues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Assist Data Coordinator to oversee Data Specialists assigned to Governance and Quality activities
• Assist in projects as part of a program supporting standard processes, policies, roles and technologies for the technical information used by the Business Units
• Monitor data quality compliance and report on data quality exceptions
• Recommend preventative data quality controls and processes
• Identify ongoing training for Data Specialists
• Assign or resolve escalated data issues; Track status
• Assist with Data Governance/Stewardship and activities encourage adoption
• Adhere to data security policies within the organization.
• Directly support business users in finding/using quality data and resolving issues
• Provide oversight/support for metadata and master data management, and movement of standard data (ETL’s)
• Prepare communications and training materials for all data and process changes
• Monitor and maintain the Data Quality Request Log.
• Establish trusted relationships and support business unit team data administrators, technicians, data specialist and EAM
• Help resolve data quality issues and assist data analysts with business rules
• Represent the team in meetings and provide input as needed
PREREQUISITES
• Degree in Engineering, Business, or other related field preferred; additional 4 years of experience may be substituted for degree
• Experience in documenting technical data definitions, and documenting data administration processes
• Experience in Upstream Oil and Gas industry preferred
• Exposure to data within Data Applications such as WellView, SiteView, OFM, Spotfire, TOW, SAP etc.
• Experience with Relational Database Management Systems such as Oracle and SQL Server
• Knowledge and understanding of various E&P data types and models (e.g. Functional Locations, Equipment Task lists), integration layers between data stores and systems, and how applications consume and produce data
• Proficiency in the use of all applications in the Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience developing data quality standards, process, and reports preferred
• Knowledge of standard data governance and data management practices preferred
• Demonstrated ability to understand, present, and monitor data quality metrics
• Technically proficient in industry standard applications used in the area of specialism, structured query language, and scripting
• Experience with data conversion a plus
• Demonstrated ability to work transparently with minimal supervision, and to learn and utilize new technologies and standards
• Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork and communications
• Excellent analytical and technical skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies
